The Marshall Regional Arts Council is excited to announce its second annual Mini Monet Art Show and Competition. Our mission is to ignite the interest and encourage the inner artist of all ages. We believe that the arts add an immeasurable value to the world around us. Our goal is to see even the youngest artist develop their talent and understand the impact that art makes.
Students K-12th grade from the East Texas area are encouraged to participate in this event. We ask teachers to select and submit student artwork that you believe stands out. The submissions will be juried by local artists and displayed at the reception on April 6th, 2pm at the Carthage High School Performing Art Center. The grade levels are divided into three categories: K-4th, 5th-8th, and 9th-12th with separate categories for 2D and 3D art.
How to Submit:
We ask that you choose artwork created in class, either a new project for this event or a previous class project that has not already been exhibited in the Mini Monet show. We will be accepting artwork in any 2D medium (painting, drawing, photography, digital design, etc.) as well as 3D medium (ceramic, sculpture, etc.). There is no limit of submissions, but we ask that teachers select their top choices. Once the submissions are received, 10 pieces per grade category for both 2D and 3D will be chosen by a panel of local artist. All submissions should be matted and ready for display. The chosen pieces will be displayed at the reception where they will be judged by professional artists for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mention. The People’s Choice award will be decided by voters during the public reception.
Every submission should be matted, ready to hang, and attached with an information form.
The deadline to submit artwork is March 22nd by 5PM at the Marshall Convention Center.
